Welcome! InOnIt.com is a playground for David Caldwell and a loosely organized set of professional colleagues and various other associates.
We work primarily with Java technologies in Fortune 500-ish environments, although some of us have worked with medium-sized clients and small community organizations. We work to enhance our clients' information systems and practices by teaching and using modern development technologies and practices, particularly focusing on continually refining and simplifying systems to reduce maintenance costs and headaches.

Java on Cygwin
There's a section of the site devoted to integrating Cygwin and Java, since there don't seem to be many resources available on that topic.
International Soccer Rankings
With World Cup 2006 looming, it seemed a good time to apply the rating program for college basketball (see below) to national soccer teams. However, scoring is sufficiently different (in basketball, teams score on about every other possession; in soccer, rarely) that a new, more soccer-specific rating system was developed and is now available (and far more up-to-date than the hoops version).
Although it sorely needs to be updated with new data, there's a big program which generates ratings for men's NCAA basketball and publishes them. It was last run after the 2002 season.
Interested in AI? There is a Java-based package available for download which allows you to develop programs which play the card game Hearts, and try them against other programs.
